2024 Recap

This year has been a journey of incredible personal and professional growth! As I reflect on 2024, I’m excited to share the highlights from each month, a testament to the progress made this year. These milestones, both personal and professional, serve as a source of inspiration for me, and I hope they inspire you, too. I look forward to continuing this tradition of reflection in the years to come!

January-February:

BRR!! Highest mileage month ever (until next month!)! I ramped up elevation like crazy for Boston. Training in this weather wasn’t terrible. Only a few treadmill runs; the rest were outside.

March:

Highest mileage month ever (until August!)! RWBW turned 4 years old! Hard to believe. I genuinely enjoy what I do and spend my days how I want to, for which I am forever grateful. We also had a Team RWBW Zoom session with the one and only Nell Rojas! She is a huge running inspiration to so many, and it was amazing to hear her thoughts on the sport at such a genuine, down-to-earth level!

April:

Boston Marathon Month! It was Marathon #16, and it was a HOT one! I am thankful to have been able to run most of the race with Nicole—sharing the course may never happen again!

May:

Clocktower 5k, my oldest daughter’s first one-mile race!! We had the best time together, and I loved seeing her go through all of the race phases of running during her race (feeling tired, questioning why she said she would run this, and then being so happy and proud once she finished the race!).

Glass City Marathon: Another May highlight, marathon #17!! I jumped in on this one for an Eagle Up training run! It was a fun overnight trip and race with friends!!

June:

Eagle Up 50 Miler—WHAT a day! Ultramarathon #8! I had a blast, and honestly, these 50 miles flew by. I finished third female overall, on the podium (if they had one!)! Read my whole recap here!

Adult Track Night: LOL! Six days after Eagle Up, I was asked to fill in for two relay teams on the day of the event. I barely raced a half mile in total, and it was so much fun being part of this event!

July and August:

August was my highest mileage month ever (252.7 miles)! Despite being sick for a few weeks, training for Chicago was high volume and very sweaty—there was SO much LMNT consumed!

September:

Akron Marathon (Relay) is always a fun day!! During Eagle Up, a friend asked me to join an AM relay team, and I was totally in, as long as I could have the last leg. It’s a personal requirement that I see my Grandma on the course at Akron; she lives near miles 22-23, which means I have to run the full marathon or a relay, so I am thankful we made it happen!! I had a blast cheering everyone on with Lindsay, Allison (with the best race signs), and Grandma Sue before I ran my leg.

October:

Chicago Marathon, ah!!! Marathon #18!!! World Major #2!! This marathon was SO much fun. I got sick during the summer, so the training was rough. But race day was everything I needed in a marathon. It was by far one of my absolute favorite marathons to date!! Race recap here.

November:

Loop the Lake 50k, Ultramarathon #9! I jumped in on this about 2 weeks before the race, and I’m so glad I did!! I ran most of the race with Teresa (a true local legend), and we cruised through those loops. Only 92 seconds of idle time!! Toward the end of the race, I thought there was a chance I could PR, so I took off for the last few laps. It turns out I had the wrong numbers/pace in my mind, so I didn’t PR (missed it by 20ish seconds?!) but landed first female overall!

Fall Classic Half Marathon: This was my husband’s first half marathon!! I’m very proud of him!

Turkey Trot 5k: I knew this one would hurt, haha! That is pretty much the highlight of the Turkey Trot, haha! Also, my sister-in-law ran her first 1 mile race!

December: We are coming out of holiday and birthday survival mode. The biggest highlight of this month is that my big girls wanted to run with me multiple times over the last few weeks. Running is something I hope they pick up at some point in life, and it is not something I would ever force them to do. I love that they wanted to run and had fun doing it!

2024 Stats:

2,441 miles (highest mileage year ever)

89,656 ft elevation (this has to be the highest elevation year ever!)

2025 Goals & Races:

For the first time in forever (?!), I have not signed up for one single race for 2025. However, I have a plethora of fitness and running goals that I’m excited to pursue. I can’t wait to share these new challenges with you and to hear about your goals for 2025!

Business highlights: RWBW turned 4 this year, soon to be 5! So much has happened in the last 4.5 years, and I can’t wait to celebrate year 5!

RWBW officially hit 10 states! I cannot believe I have been able to coach athletes in 10 states this year! Check out my coaching metrics to see other fun stats!

Outside of the races, the daily grind is what I love the most. I get to do something I love in the company of my best friends nearly every day! That’s where it’s at!!

Looking forward to another year of fun, let’s do this!! I am deeply grateful for the support and encouragement I’ve received from the running community. Your belief in me has been a driving force in my running journey and career, and I look forward to sharing more milestones with you in the coming year. Cheers!
