Meet Nicole

What is your name (and social handle)?

Nicole (@nicolerunsohio)

Tell us about you! Where are you from? What do you do for a living?

I’m from Medina! I’ve been living here for 4 years but have worked here for 8 years and have always loved the town. So when I had an opportunity to move to Medina, I jumped! (You can catch me running around town and grabbing a coffee at cool beans often 😂) For a living, I am a web developer. Before running, my passion has always been behind a keyboard so it’s fun to be doing it as a full time job. When I’m not running or working, I’m always reading or gaming. I’m a huge Star Wars nerd! 🤓

How did you get into running?

A friend asked me if I would join her in training and running a half marathon (The Canton City Marathon which I believe doesn’t exist anymore) and the rest is history. I do owe a huge part of my running to my big sister, Patricia. She was already running at the time so I would join her and her friends often. It’s definitely something that brought us closer together. We became best friends because of all the running we did together (which who would have thought! We always fought as kids lol).

Tell us about your biggest running successes, and/or running goals.

My biggest success as of today is accomplishing every marathon I’ve ran. I will always be proud of those finishes. I’ve had a goal of running all the major marathons and getting my six star marathon. If I’m being honest, I began losing hope in that goal after my last marathon but I got into Chicago this year so my goal today is to prepare for that marathon and from there I would like to re-assess that possibility of running all the WMM.

If you could go on a run with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

Honestly, my old running group (Beer:30) in Norwalk. I don’t go out there nearly enough but those are the people and memories that I hold near and dear to my heart.

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?

Usually reading a book, comic, or graphic novel and indulging in a cup of coffee with my husband!

Where is your favorite spot to vacation, or somewhere you would love to travel to?

My favorite is Vermont in the fall! I would love to go travel to travel back east again but somewhere I haven’t been like Maine or Nantucket. The NE states are just amazing to see when the leaves are changing.

Name a book that everyone (running related or not) should read.

If you’re a Star Wars fan, Master & Apprentice by Claudia Grey if you’re not a SW fan, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin.

Favorite food:

Chicken tendies, French fries, with BBQ sauce 😋

A genie grants you three wishes. What would they be?

More hours in the day, a playlist that never gets old, to be able to eat unlimited fries without gaining weight.

What is your best advice for fellow runners?

Des says it best, keep showing up. And don’t put your worth on your pace/time. You are a great runner every day you show up for yourself. ❤️
