Meet Carolyn

What is your name (and social handle)?

Carolyn McMullen (FB – Carolyn McMullen, IG – crachita)

Tell us about you! Where are you from? What do you do for a living?

I grew up in Northeast Ohio, went to and ran for Brecksville HS, The College of Wooster; Masters at Emory University Atlanta GA). I’m an Innovation Manager on the Dog Treats team at The J.M. Smucker Co. Pup-Peroni and Milk Bone are brands I work on.

How did you get into running?

I got recruited by my Middle School cross country coach. That was over 35 years ago and I’m still at it. Ran cross and track in high school and college.

Tell us about your biggest running successes, and/or running goals.

Have finished 9 full marathons and last summer did my first 50 miler. I’d like to one day qualify for Boston and complete a 100K.

If you could go on a run with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

Des Linden. She’s a gritty beast. I admire her drive and tenacity.

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?

Spending time with family and being outside; traveling to favorite or fun new places.

Where is your favorite spot to vacation, or somewhere you would love to travel to?

Outer Banks, Nags Head North Carolina.

Name a book that everyone (running related or not) should read.

I definitely am not a reader.

Favorite food:

Dark chocolate.

A genie grants you three wishes. What would they be?

Get to see our kids at the snap of a finger – they both live out of state – Minnesota and North Carolina. Good health for friend and family. The headache and mysterious inflammatory pain I’ve had for 10 years would resolve.

What is your best advice for fellow runners?

Trust the training. Set goals and understand that it takes consistency and commitment to get there. It’s not easy, but the journey is worth it.
